Find pickleball partners in Austin
Pickleball took off in Austin, and the hard part usually isn't finding a court. It's finding three other people who are free at the same time and play at about your level. nCommon is built for exactly that.
Fill a court without the group-chat shuffle
Post "Doubles this evening, two spots" with roughly where you're playing, and people nearby who like pickleball see it on the map. They ask to join, you say yes, and the chat opens for the details. When the spots fill, the plan shows as full so nobody else turns up.
Already at the courts and short a player? Post it as happening now. Plans happening now sit at the top, so someone a few minutes away can come over.
Play with people at your level
Say it in the plan: "Beginners welcome", "3.5-ish, friendly games", or "Learning the kitchen rule, be patient with me". People pick the games that suit them, and the ones you enjoyed are easy to play with again.
Tips for playing in Austin
- Beat the heat. From late spring through September, early mornings and evenings are far more pleasant than midday.
- Bring outdoor balls if you're playing outside; they're harder and hold up better on concrete courts.
- Know the court's rules. Many public courts in Austin run open play with paddle stacking or rotation. Ask what the local custom is.
- Bring water and a spare paddle if you're inviting someone new to the game.
How nCommon works
- Post a plan for now or later: what you're doing, roughly where, and whether you want one other person or a small group.
- Or join one. Plans near you show on a map and in a list. Ask to join, and the host says yes before the chat opens.
- Public places only. A plan shows a venue or an area, never anyone's home address.
- For friendship, not dating. It's about the thing you want to do and the people who want to do it too.
