Find people to see live music with in Austin
Austin calls itself the Live Music Capital of the World, and on any night there's more on than one person could ever see. It's also the classic thing people skip because nobody else is free. nCommon helps you find someone who wants to go too.
Post the show
Post "Seeing a band on Red River Friday, doors at 8" and people nearby who like live music see it. They ask to join, you say yes, and the chat opens to meet up before the show. Bought tickets already? Say whether others need their own.
Concerts and festivals
For a big concert or a festival day, a plan helps you find someone heading the same way, so you've got company in the line, the crowd and the ride home. Austin City Limits Music Festival in Zilker Park each fall and South by Southwest each March bring the biggest crowds of the year.
Where to hear music in Austin
- Red River Cultural District: clubs close together, good for catching more than one band.
- Sixth Street and downtown: busy, loud and late.
- South Congress and South Austin: long-running venues and bars with music most nights.
- Free and early shows: plenty of bars and patios have music with no cover, especially early in the evening.
Show-night tips
- Check the cover and age limit before you post; some shows are 21+.
- Agree a meeting spot outside the venue, since phones are hard to hear inside.
- Plan the ride home before the night starts.
How nCommon works
- Post a plan for now or later: what you're doing, roughly where, and whether you want one other person or a small group.
- Or join one. Plans near you show on a map and in a list. Ask to join, and the host says yes before the chat opens.
- Public places only. A plan shows a venue or an area, never anyone's home address.
- For friendship, not dating. It's about the thing you want to do and the people who want to do it too.
